Advisory Committee Awards First Destination Development Fund Grant

In an effort to create opportunities for tourism development, Valley County Tourism recently developed the Destination Development Fund Grant. The purpose of the Valley County Tourism Destination Development Fund Grant is to provide funding that improves existing or creates new visitor attractions and facilities in Valley County, Nebraska.

At the March Valley County Tourism Advisory Committee, the first Destination Development Fund Grant was approved!  The Valley County Historical Society will receive funds to assist with needed repairs of the Valley County Museum.  The Valley County Tourism Advisory Committee felt this is a valuable project that will contribute greatly to tourism efforts in Valley County.

The Destination Development Fund Grant is open to any business or non-profit organization that provides tourism attractions or facilities that are available for public use.  The maximum grant request is limited to 25% of the total project cost and the amount of available funds at any point throughout the year. Up to 25% of total project costs can be in-kind contributions from project partners.

Applications are reviewed quarterly in March, June, September and December on a first-come, first-served basis.  Projects excluded from eligibility include projects located outside of Valley County, general operating expenses, personnel salaries, supplies or equipment, general maintenance and items not included on the application.

If you are interested in applying for a Destination Development Fund Grant, contact the Valley County Tourism office at (308) 728-7875.
