2021 Nebraska Grown Arts Festival

Arts and culture are a major part of what makes Valley County so unique and it’s time to celebrate it!

Beginning in 2017, several local artists got together to share the good news of the arts community in Valley County. What began as a tour of several local art galleries quickly turned into a full festival that celebrates artists from all over Nebraska. This year’s festival on Saturday, April 17, 2021 will include a wide array of artistic events.

The Golden Husk, Ord’s historic downtown theatre, will be hosting several different art classes. From 9:30-11:30am on April 17, local artist Brian Wamberg will lead a watercolor class that includes brunch and mimosas catered by Jubilee Events & Catering. Tickets for this event are $15 and available on ShopOrd.com, at The Golden Husk or at the Ord Area Chamber Office. This class is limited to 20 participants, so get your tickets soon!

In the afternoon, The Golden Husk will have free artistic workshops for all ages, including glass work, resin, sun catchers, chalk calligraphy, and more. These free classes will take place from 1:00-3:00pm at the Golden Husk, located at 129 S 16th Street in Ord.

Two art galleries in Valley County also invite festival attendees to tour, shop and enjoy artist led classes. Main Street Gallery, located along highway 11 in North Loup, gives local artists a place to showcase their work year round. Stop in anytime between 10:00am and 5:00pm on Saturday, April 17 to browse their selection of art, take artist led classes or simply appreciate the historic downtown building this gallery is located in.

Gallery: Art & Creativity, located at 80800 Oak Grove Rd in Comstock, really is a hidden gem. Disguised as an ancient church, this gallery is home to Vissi d’Arte Club, which is hosting their annual open art show featuring Nebraska artwork. While visiting, you will most likely find the owner of this beautiful gallery doodling.

In between art classes and gallery visits, be sure to visit local businesses on the downtown squares of Ord and Burwell, as well as the historic main streets of North Loup, Arcadia & Comstock. Be sure to get a punch card to take to every stop! Pick up one of these punch cards for The Golden Husk or participating galleries and businesses. Full punch cards will be entered at the final event of the festival for door prizes!

End your artistic day with a social hour and live music! Starting at 6:30pm, circle back to the Golden Husk for social hour with Hor-d’oeuvres and a cash bar. At 7:30pm, enjoy music by Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal, another Nebraska homegrown artist.
