Valley County Tourism Lodging Tax Collections for 2023-24 Fiscal Year

The Valley County Tourism Committee and staff would like to thank Valley County lodging facilities and tourism desinations for continued support of the tourism industry in Valley County!

With their welcoming hospitality, Valley County continues to see an upward trend in overnight visitors.  From July 2023 through June 2024, Valley County collected $47,474,88 in lodging tax collections.  While this is slightly down from the previous fiscal year collections, it is still a record year!  These collections will go toward promoting travel destinations and opportunities in Valley County.

Valley County Tourism has also seen a large increase in requests for travel information.  Since January of 2024, over 150 Venture to Valley County Travel Guides have been mailed to 36 states and 3 countries.  This is double the amount mailed in 2023. We are excited to see the requests come through as we publicize the newest edition of the travel guide, which is set to be finished before end of 2024.

In the last fiscal year, Tourism Promotion and Improvement Funds were utilized to support the improvement of The Golden Husk’s historic marquee, as well as marketing for several large events, including Father’s Day Rod Run, North Loup Popcorn Days, Arcadia Fall Festival, Maker’s Market, and more.  A new eligible activity was added to the Destination Development Fund Grant in August 2024, allowing nonprofit and public entities to apply for assistance with costs related to event entertainment. Since the creation of the Destination Development Grant and Traveler Attraction Grant were created in 2022, almost $55,000 have been invested in Valley County visitor destinations and events.

Valley County Tourism Committee welcomes any and all ideas for attracting visitors for overnight stays as well as ways we can further support Valley County tourist destinations. Feel free to contact any committee member or the Valley County Tourism office at (308) 728-7875.

We look forward to the continued growth of Valley County’s tourism industry and are honored to play a part in supporting and promoting area businesses, destinations, events and amenities.
