Our History
Relive history, don’t just read about it.
Virtue, grit and a progressive vision are foundations of our community that go all the way back to March 1871 when Valley County was founded.
Our county lines contain 570-square-miles of rich history. Take a self-guided tour of the Valley County Courthouse or Valley County Museum, both in Downtown Ord. Fort Hartsuff State Historical Park, located north of Elyria, or the Arcadia Township Carnegie Library are incredible destinations too. Or plan a visit during North Loup Popcorn Days, Nebraska’s longest continuously running community celebration.
You’ll relive a rich history when you visit Ord, Elyria, Arcadia and North Loup, Nebraska.
